What does non-gmo mean?

I see this label on a lot of food these days and I am not entirely sure what it means. Anyone know?

Non-GMO means non-genetically modified. GMOs (genetically modified organisms), are novel organisms created in a laboratory using genetic modification/engineering techniques. Scientists and consumer and environmental groups have cited many health and environmental risks with foods containing GMOs. As a result of the risks, many people in the United States and around the world are demanding “non-GMO” foods.

The “Non-GMO Project” label only verifies that a product doesn not contain genetically modified (GMO) ingredients (or technically less than 0.9% GMOs). While that is good, its not the whole story about what the product contains, how it was produced, and where it came from. But when I have a choice, I always choose organic food.

Disageed. Gmo food can be good. I mean it can save world hunger but we gotta control the population not to go overboard. Oh well not gonna go into conspiracies xD
But yeah organic food might be better for you in some cases.
