Can TV shows ruin actors for life?

I know some people that never could go to another movie or anything because they were too good in a TV show that was popular and when people see them on screen they feel like they already know his character and that it can't change. I consider that a TV show could potentially define your future carer as an actor/actress.

Oh yea, we see this all the time with actors like Daniel Radcliffe and Elijah Wood. Who both have had a hard time finding quality projects to be in since there massive success.
